Types of Crusher in Mining

Crusher is an important part of the mining industry. It is used to reduce the size of ore blocks to a more manageable size. There are many types of crushers. Each type has its unique characteristics and advantages.

Jaw Crusher: These crushers use jaws or toggles to compress the material being crushed. They are typically used for primary crushing and are able to process large volumes of material.

First, the motor drives the belt and the pulley to make the movable jaw move back and forth, up and down around the eccentric shaft. When the movable jaw pushes the movable jaw towards the fixed jaw, the material is crushed. When the movable jaw plate moves backward under the action of the eccentric shaft and the spring, the crushed materials are discharged from the outlet under the jaw plate. Due to the continuous operation of the motor, the movable jaw can be crushed or unloaded periodically, thus realizing mass production.

Gyratory Crusher: Gyratory crushers use a mantle that revolves or rotates within a concave bowl. They are typically used for secondary crushing and are able to process large volumes of material.

Gyratory crusher is mainly composed of beam, frame, moving cone, eccentric sleeve, transmission part and hydraulic cylinder. Driven by the motor, the horizontal shaft starts to rotate, and then drives the eccentric sleeve to rotate with the aid of the gear. Then, the eccentric sleeve drives the moving cone to swing in a circular motion, constantly squeezing and breaking the rock.

Adjusting the hydraulic cylinder at the bottom of the movable cone makes the cone move up and down, which can make the adjustment of the opening of the discharge port easier, so as to better control the particle size of the final product. In addition, the hydraulic cylinder has iron intrusion protection. If unbreakable materials such as iron pieces enter the crushing cavity, the hydraulic cylinder will lower the moving cone to release the iron pieces, and the crushing process will continue.

Cone Crusher: Cone crushers use a conical crushing head that rotates within a concave bowl. They are typically used for tertiary crushing and are capable of producing fine-grained products.

When the cone crusher is working, driven by the motor, the eccentric sleeve rotates under the joint action of the V-belt, the large pulley, the transmission shaft, the bevel gear and the bevel gear. Then, under the action of the eccentric sleeve, the shaft also starts to rotate. In the meantime, the broken wall sometimes approaches and sometimes moves away from the rolling wall. This movement forces the materials to be continuously impacted, squeezed and crushed in the crushing cavity between the crushing wall and the rolling wall. Finally, when the fineness of the material reaches the discharge standard, it is discharged from the machine.

Impact Crusher: Impact crushers use rotating hammers to break material. They are generally used for softer materials and are capable of producing cubic products.

The impact crusher uses impact force to crush materials. When the material enters the working area of the hammer head, it is crushed under the high-speed impact, and then thrown to the impact device above the rotor for secondary crushing. Next, the material bounces back from the liner to the working area of the hammer head again. This process is repeated until the material reaches the qualified particle size and then discharged. Adjusting the gap between the impact frame and the rotor frame can change the particle size and shape of the finished product. Behind the strike plate is a spring safety device. When the unbreakable material enters the crushing cavity, the counter-attack frame moves backward to discharge the unbreakable material out of the crusher.

Roller Crusher: Roller crushers use two rotating cylinders to crush material. They are generally used for intermediate crushing and are capable of producing fine-grained products.

Each type of crusher has its own advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right crusher depends on the specific needs of your mining operation. It is important to consider the size and type of material being crushed, as well as the capacity and throughput of the crusher.
